Journaling to clear your throat chakra

journaling

“To be open and aligned in the fifth chakra is to speak, listen, and express yourself from a higher form of communication…Often it’s easier to say what the other person may want to hear instead of speaking your truth. Fear of not being accepted, or judgment from the other may hinder your truthful verbal expression.” via Chopra Center.

I’m on a mission to “speak my truth.” And I share this story in hopes of it helping, supporting or inspiring someone else (because I think a lot of people will be able to relate).

In some areas and aspects of life, speaking my truth comes easily to me. But when it comes to speaking truths to myself and others I love and respect, like *really* being honest with what I want and what is true to me, I can falter. I am fearful of stirring up the waters, of the possible confrontation and judgment. It is safer to people please sometimes.

But someone I greatly respect and trust said to me the other day, “What you are worried about is an illusion.” And in order for others to be ok with my decisions, ideas and actions, I have to be ok with it first. I have to fully accept, love and believe in *my* truth, own it and then that same energy will be spread.

I’m not saying I have anything radical or crazy going on behind the scenes in my life, but this is something I’ve been thinking about and noticing. One of the ways I am “opening up my throat chakra,” (yes, I’m getting woo woo, just go with it) is by journaling. Free writing in the morning. You can free write any time, but morning is the best because it clears the crap out of your mind for the day and it’s also when you’re not toooootally, fully conscious yet, so your brain doesn’t have as many filters holding you back. Just dump all the crap that’s swirling in your brain onto paper. You can write about ANYTHING. Write about how stupid it is to be writing and then a minute later, I guarantee your hand will be scribbling across the page writing out something completely different that you didn’t even know you needed to address.

I did journaling this morning, even though I didn’t want to, and I feel 150% better right now than when I woke up. Seriously, this shit works wonders. JUST TRY IT.

Get a notebook, grab a pen and set your timer for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, you’re done. And yes, you have 10 minutes. That’s like 3 BuzzFeed videos. Do it.

Transportation for a Badass

Transportation for a badass
Pearl

Mr. Pearly Birdie

First off, Pearly bird wanted to say “hello!”

“Sometimes your only available transportation is a leap of faith.” – Margaret Shepard

You have to take that leap of faith out of your comfort zone in order to make any changes in your current situation or to welcome any transformation into your life.

Yes, it can be scary. But I’d rather take a “leap of faith” that turns out to be a dud than walk around the rest of my life wondering “What if…?” At the very least you learn something about you and/or the world, right? Life is an adventure. It’s a story YOU write yourself.

So be daring, you badass and take that leap of faith into the next chapter of your life, you know, the one you *really* want to pursue.

We create these stories in our head that the whole world will collapse if we take that scary next step…like we’ll lose our friends, our parents won’t approve, we will lose our money, we’ll regret the decision the second we’ll make it, we will fail, our birds will hate us….we’ve all had those stories take up valuable real-estate in our minds.

Those are cute stories, but that’s just what they are: STORIES. Not reality. STORIES. Write yourself a new story, one that is filled with lots of success (whatever that word means to YOU), celebration, dreams manifesting, people cheering, an abundance of money and friends, and one where your birdie always loves you. Hold this new story and vision close to your heart and mind as you take that leap of faith.

You’ll realize it wasn’t that scary after all.

If you need support in re-writing your story, talk to me! It’s my passion and purpose to help support badasses like you through these transition, story-rewriting times in your life. I want you to be the best version of YOU. <3 Set up a complimentary 30-minute call with me here to see how I can support you: https://calendly.com/lindseyoconnor

Need your daily dose of vitamins? Drink Vitamin Water!

Vitamin Water
Vitamin WaterMarketing is a very powerful thing. But being a conscious consumer and being aware of what you put into your body is an even more powerful thing.
.
I was at the grocery store last night when I saw these Vitamin Waters on the shelves. I had just finished dinner and a margarita with my friend at a nearby restaurant, so I was feeling a little feisty…thus me actually taking a moment to look at the ingredients in a “Vitamin” Water and seethe silently in the aisle. …Also why I decided to post this *today* and not last night in the moment. 😂
.

You would think “Vitamin Water” is relatively healthy. Getting ALL your vitamins in one deliciously flavored bottle. I mean, it’s called “Vitamin Water” and many of them are super-charged with things like acai and pomegranate, “vital-t” and squeezed lemonade. The colors are also pretty snazzy too…

But look BEYOND the label and marketing…this Vitamin Water is one of the furthest things from healthy.

32g of SUGAR
#1 ingredient? Water.
#2 ingredient? Sugar (“crystalline fructose”)
#3 ingredient? Sugar (“cane sugar”)
LESS THAN .5% of …….a long list of “vitamins” and “natural flavors” (aka not natural flavors)
.
LESS THAN .5% is the “vitamin” part of this drink.
.
The American Heart Association says the MAXIMUM amount of *added* sugars you should eat in a day is 25g for women and 37.5g for men. (Although, in my opinion, you should always keep added sugar intake as low as you can.)
.
This drink has 32g of sugar in it. ONE drink. That doesn’t include anything else you are eating that day.

Guys. If you eat a relatively healthy diet throughout the day, get your servings of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, protein and good fats…you will have ALL of these vitamins and SO much more. Bonus? You’re not putting crap in your body.

Ideally, we would avoid things like “Vitamin Water” and everything else with processed sugar. But I know that’s not realistic for many of us (including me!), nor is it fun.

I’m all about BALANCE. Be conscious and informed about what you put in your body. Eat as much fresh, unpackaged foods as possible. Drink your Shakeology. But also enjoy going out for ice cream, having a drink with your friend, baking your significant other’s favorite cookies (maybe with a healthier recipe?? ;) ), eating greasy pizza at 1am on a Friday night. But don’t make it a daily thing.

Health is about balance. Healthy comes from knowing your body and knowing what you put into your body. Be CONSCIOUS of marketing and labeling and understand that you’ll probably want to avoid stuff like “Vitamin Water,” or drink once in a great while.

Hell, make your own “Vitamin Water” by putting fresh fruit slices and berries in your water. I LOVE putting lemon and lime or raspberries in my water.

Eat real, fresh, whole foods and that will be all the “Vitamin Water” your body will need <3

Never allow waiting to become a habit

never-allow-waiting-to-become-a-habit-live-your-dreams-and-take-risks-life-is-happening-nowI’ve made some bold, out-of-the-box moves in the last several years. Whether it’s a literal move to different cities/countries for a time or certain personal decisions I’ve made in my life. I felt something in my gut, listened to my intuition, followed it, made it happen and a short whirlwind later, I was living it.

There was this freedom and expansion initially and then there was always that feeling of “Oh. My. God. What the hell was I thinking?!?! Nope. I want to go back. Go back, go back, go back. This is scary and I have NO idea what I’m doing.” (I mean, moving to Spain for 4 months on my own when I knew no one and spoke very little Spanish? Talk about scary, vulnerable shit. LOL)

But then I moved past those feelings. The flailing as I free fall, thinking I’m way over my head. I kept calm and carried on because, in my mind, I had no other choice. Once outside of my comfort zone, going back is not an answer.

Sitting scared shitless outside of my comfort zone was and is my “plan.” Because I know allowing myself to feel that discomfort and work through it, exploring and discovering in that heightened, sensitive state will make living even more magical and real. I’ll learn about my world and myself even more.

I have a fear of being stuck, of waiting for too long and never being able to do something again, whether it’s travel, work, experiences, moves, etc…That I would one day look back and regret I didn’t do something when I had the chance.

This is a good and bad thing I guess.

Although, I’ve had to learn that I need to weed out the “gut feelings” that are actually coming from a place of fear and insecurity, rather than actual intuition. I used to think that by changing my external environment, I’d be able to take care of an internal insecurity or issue. That by moving to a different location, it would magically be gone. Poof. But it only served to suppress whatever issue it was, only to have it come out again in my new environment.

Don't let life happen to youAll the moves I’ve made though, whether subtle or mildly drastic, have all shaped the person I am today. Stretched me. Made me grow, personally, professionally, as a friend, daughter, partner and coach. I was forced to face some of my inner demons head on in order to make it through those vulnerable moments. Even if there were scary times at the beginning, I never regretted what I learned. I never regretted my experiences and choices.

Don’t wait for life to happen to you. Or for life to just simply go by. Do something to create the life, environment and changes you want and need. Ones that will support you and your higher purpose and passions. Take action. Go for it. Go. Do. Don’t wait. Life is happening NOW. Enjoy it, because it’s yours.

5 Secrets to Manifesting and Visualizing #likeaboss

Lindsey Social Media Manager
Today we are discussing one of my favorite topics: manifestation and visualization. I LOVE talking about this shizzle and I know it can be very powerful if done consistently.
1. Write down everything that you DO want. So often we focus on what we don’t want, that we actually aren’t 100% sure on what we do want and would like to manifest. Get cozy with all the nitty, gritty details that you DO want. Down to the color of your dream sofa, what your co-worker’s name will be, what pictures are on your desk and what nickname your awesome-sauce partner calls you.
.
2. Create a vision board. Be creative! Cut out pictures and paste them on another paper that you hang somewhere and see ALL ZEE TIME! Make boards on Pinterest, make a collage for your desktop picture, make a picture for your phone. Be sure to include images, words and phrases that represent how you want to feel when you have manifested your goals and dreams. Connect your emotions to it all.

3. Talk in the present tense, like it’s already happened. I don’t want to hear anything along the lines of “If…” or “It would be great if….” “I don’t know if it will happen, but….” CHICA. It will happen. It’s already happening behind the scenes. So talk as if you have it all right now or it’s happening. Not “if,” but WHEN. ;)

4. Be grateful for what you DO have and what you are currently doing. I know, I know…you’re probably like, “SAY WHAT?” I know this is a hard one, but seriously, be grateful and show appreciation for what you do have and are currently doing. No matter how crappy, show up every day to work, your apartment, etc. like it’s the best thing ever and be ready and willing to give your 100%. This causes magical, karmic alignment and the Universe then is ready to provide when you’re appreciative of what you DO have.

5. Believe. Believe in yourself. Believe that you can achieve your goals and dreams. Cause you can. Always hold firm in the belief that you are amazing, you can and WILL achieve your goals and dreams and have the full capability to achieve all that you want to in your life. Your life is an unwritten script, a blank chapter, an un-molded piece of clay (anyone else get an image of Lucille Ball molding that clay in the one I Love Lucy episode??) Surround yourself with people or a community that believes in you and reminds you daily of your greatness and badassery.

SO. Which tip will you tackle this week? Which ones do you already do? Comment below! I can’t wait to hear from you!
